  • Ratatouille

    ratatouille

Given the content of the previous post, I can't figure out why I rented the DVD, Ratatouille. It's a Pixar animation about a rat that finds his way from the countryside to the City of Lights and becomes--get this--a chef at a famous restaurant. Ugh. Rats shit where they eat, and this one is cooking in the restaurant? There are a couple of scenes when there were dozens of rats in one shot crawling through the kitchen pantry. I think M almost fainted.

    What was I thinking?

They should have shown the rats shitting around the kitchen, then having the droppings get people sick. That, at the very least, would have been a public service to educate kids that rats are not cute furry little animals but disease carrying vermin.

  • i totally agree! that's exactly my thought when watching this movie.

  • that imagery reminds me of the taco bell that i used to live near in the village.  rats galore.

  • RATS! haha...

  • I liked this movie too.. :D I even liked the song in there (sung by a French woman)... But yes, it's a Disney movie, so the rat was all cuddly and cutey.. like most of Disney's characters. But in real life, a rat is just disgusting...

  • i liked that movie... =P

  • I really enjoyed the movie. However, I would hate having real rats anywhere near me!

  • Why so serious?

I have rats in my apartment...
once they start shitting at the trash cans, I can smell it...

  • Are you JOKING?

    It's a freakin' Disney movie. c'mon.

Also, it's one of my favorite movies haha. It was done so well! So entertaining.

  • ...I thought it was cute. I certainly liked it. Wall-E has also been getting a great reception despite the lack of any talking creatures (just bots).

I mean, I don't look to Disney or Pixar films for inspiration on life lessons or anything. Except maybe Aladdin; that's the movie that convinced me to save up for an elephant at my wedding. KF

  • rats are vermins, which is why it's a fun twist at what a rat is supposed to be.  granted, my entire body did cringe when i saw the kitchen full of rats.  ack.

before you know it, disney, pixar, and whatever animation companies out there, they are going to run out of talking animals to make a movie about.

  • That movie gave me the creeps! In my house, rats are evil. They are not cute or funny. It is the one Pixar movie I refuse to own.

  • i didn't watch this movie because i didn't think rats would be cute in the kitchen.

re: i really like reading the father's perspective on parenting because i'm a female and maybe one day i'll have my own children so i'll have my own mommy experiences. http://www.metrodad.com is a funny daddy blog.

  • were you that hard up for something to watch? want me to send you a hong kong movie that will at least make you laugh? and i'll make sure it doesn't have rats! oh... wait... i just picked up Azuma. Have you seen that?

  • i'm not sure what you were thinking either! i didn't care much for the movie 'ratatouille'... maybe you can rent 'enchanted' next time, its another disney movie thats extremely cute. umm, warning there is a couple of rodent scenes too.
