What goes bump in the night...
I don't really remember the dream except for that I was running away and I began to stumble. The next thing I knew, I was falling and bumped my knee on the floor next to my bed. It was early morning and M, who was already awake and brushing her teeth, was surprised by the sound and ran in from the bathroom.
"What happened? Are you okay?""Yeah," I said dazed still holding onto the stand of the floor lamp next to our bed. I had instinctively grabbed onto the pole as I tumbled out of bed. I suppose this was an instictive act, but fortunately prevented me from hitting my head anywhere.
M started giggling. "That was quite a thud. I thought the bed broke or something."
All I could do was shrug my shoulder, half in embarrassment, half in bewilderment. It's been a while since I had fallen out of bed. Over forty years, I think, when I was eight or nine years old. But for whatever reason, I can still remember that dream. The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms was chasing me through the streets of a metropolitan city and then I fell off a cliff, falling onto the floor between my bed and desk.
I had heard somwhere that if you actually hit the bottom in a falling dream, you'd really die. This is probably an urban legend, but I'm not the type to test death theories. I'm a firm believer of the adage, "Better safe than sorry." Although, admitedly, it's not as though I could force myself to wake up in a dream. But I am glad I sorta woke up before I hit the floor.
Query: Have you ever fallen out of your bed? When was the last time you fell out of bed?

wow that must have been quite a dream! I also had a nightmare the other night but luckily the bed was just too huge for me to fall from it! Out of nowhere I jumped up and scared my g/f half to death... poor girl
she probably thought I was doing something wrong or something...
Give weird doramas a rest right before going to bed!!
I've never fallen off of my bed, but I have hit my head on the wall a few times. And I've laughed and cried in my sleep too, according to two people, my mother and then my roommate.
So you knew you were falling, but thought it was a dream until you actually felt yourself hit something?
A long long time ago... (okay, 25 years?), I was in a car accident. I couldn't put weight on one leg for a while. I was just recently separated. I dreamt that my ex was coming up the stairs toward the bedroom. (And I was not afraid of him at all but still it was startling to believe he was there.) I rolled out of bed to confront him and woke up as I fell to the floor because the leg couldn't support my weight at all. I got up and hopped back to bed. It was very weird.
About five or six years ago I woke up in the middle of the night to nature's call. My legs were completely numb, but I was in too much of a hurry to realize it, so when I put all my weight on them I just collapsed on the floor and woke up my roommate.
Never been chased by a big dragon thing and fallen off of a cliff, though.
I last fell out of bed in high school. I used to keep my alarm clock on the other side of the room so that I'd HAVE to get up in the morning. One morning it startled me awake and I jumped out of bed to turn it off, not realizing the sheet was wrapped around my leg, and I fell flat on the floor with a very resounding "thump."
nope. i kick sometimes when i sleep though.
i never fell out of my bed. but i have plenty of dreams of me falling from buildings, which in turn will jolt me up from sleep.lucky that i never hit the bottom in my dreams! haha!
