Back to work
Wow, I can't believe I got over 400 views on my last post. I guess there are a lot of people concerned about the issue.
For that past few weeks, I've been catching up on stuff I have to do to prepare for the new academic year. Now, school has started and I find myself swamped as usual. Actually, more so. The program director was reassigned to duty at our language lab as acting director, leaving me with the duty of running our program. And, man, is there a lot on my plate now. I think I might need to change jobs.
Anyway, I hope to find the time to write as Xanga is very cathartic for all of us, right?

right.
Good luck at work!!! I'll make sure to keep how busy you are in mind because it'll make me cherish more my precious vacation days...
I figured you got swallowed up by school when you stopped posting. Haha.
Have you always been a professor or did you drift to it from another job?
Aww, you can't leave. Where would I be without your guidance?
Ok, that was sarcastic, but seriously. Now that I'm getting my grad school applications together, I am wondering if I should have gone to that place on the hill over to the west of you after all, but when I think about it, I can never regret my choice because of the great Japanese and Italian departments and what they did for me. So just remember that. You are key.
I suppose there are lost students in need of your expert advice everywhere, so my argument is kind of moot, but even though you talk about moving, I have to say I'm glad you haven't quite yet. Of course, onigiris need to go where they can be happy and free and play in the grass and the sunshine...
Ok, obviously I am too tired to think. Ciao!
I swear, one day we will meet up for that drink.
We all need xanga once in a while, for me every 5 seconds, for everyone else, a more reasonable amount...
I still think you should move to UH.....we have almost a whole floor of Japanese teachers not to mention a whole building dedicated to East Asian Languages and Literatures. Even a Center for Okinawan Studies. You could teach Bungo and Classical Literature (they have a visiting lecturer teaching those subjects this year and last year, same person though). You could probably even teach 101 if you really wanted to but I bet the grad students wouldn't want you to do that =P
