  • I am such a Twit

    I had heard of Twitter quite a while ago when the people at RBJ began tweeting--I think that's the verb--with each other. I resisted. I swore that I have enough sites to my name at places like Blogger, Hotmail, Aim, RBJ, LiveJournal, WordPress, Nutang, CafePress (yes! buy Onigiriman goods!), Flickr, Shutterfly, YouTube, MySpace, Flickster, Technorati, just to name a few. (Just so you know, I don't even deal with many of these sites anymore, I just want to hold onto my name. ) I figure that it was enough. I even have a Jaiku account which is I think similar to Twitter, so I thought, "Why bother?"

    Well, it seems that everyone on TV is talking about Twitter. It's like the Facebook for 2009. So what did I do today? I registered.

    Unfortunately.... Someone already is using my screen name. I mean seriously, my name is so unique, why would anyone want to steal it? Worse, I don't think this person is using it because s/he has no updates, no followings, no followers. What's up with that?

    Oh well, I don't own a cell phone so I don't know when I'll be tweeting, but I will try to do what everyone else seems to be doing--Exposing every facet of his/her life. Sheesh. What is this world coming to?

  • @Onigiriman - For the record... no, I didn't take onigiriman. :P I've moved passed my onigiri stage and evolved into... stranger names.

  • @Onigiriman - i don't know what i want to know but i want to know something... i hate that feeling- that there's so much to know and i'm not learning fast enough. i barely know what i know- much less what i need to know...it's just where i am right now... a bit whiny, sry!

  • You got sucked into Twitter too? I had resisted for so long, and then finally, in September I caved in and ... now I'm tweeting, even with my cell phone. (I also find it hard to believe that you don't have one! Really? :O)

  • i have a twitter account for that exact reason and i've had it a while- my own personal protection of the odd online identity known as jerjonji... i know i can't protect it forever, but one does what one can.... ps. why do you always leave me wanting more????? that's a sign of a very very very good teacher you know!

  • Twitter is an awesome application. I don't bare my soul to the world with it, though. My husband and I used it as a really effective and quick method of communicating with each other when we were (temporarily) living halfway around the world from each other. You can set the updates to private and only allow certain people to see them. You can also get a text message sent to you once that person 1) updates their "timeline" or 2) they send you a Direct Message. It was a free method of sending text messages to each other and avoiding international text messaging charges. :)

    I can't believe you don't own a cell phone. Uso yo!
