No, Onigiriman is leaving Xanga. Like I said, I'm just tying up a few last threads. You know how anal I am!Like Purin_kun on the right, many have wondered if I was really going. Well, I admit that Xanga has been very addictive and it is certainly hard to leave, but leave I will. I'm sure I will be going through withdrawal, so if any of my students see me muttering to myself as I walk to class, please understand what's happening... heheheh. Dont worry, it won't affect my grading. I'll be the same ol' softy... NOT! Hahahahah. Anyway, to continue my responses...

Well, regardless of whether it was in "good fun" or with malicious intent, we can figure it was an extremely immature act. I think, all too often, "kids" will act in a manner where they do not think about ultimate consequences or overall implications. Now that is if they did that with no intent to harm. If it was done with malicious intent, I suppose they've proven a certain point. I'm not sure what... but... something. Well, sir, t'was a short while on this little virtual space, but I hope this will allow you to get to more important things... like keepin' up with JA Journal!
Thanks, Taku. It was fun. I remember you as the first blogger--outside my students--who really impressed me. And it too bad about the number. I was so close to getting to 20,000. To my Xanga daughter. To be honest, I don't remember what it was exactly but you always seemed strangely similar to my real daughter, who I rarely get the chance to see anymore--she lives in Japan. I will not sit idly by while you give up something you love under pressure from some wayward comment (that, again, has NO bearing on your reputation!). Don't let this idiot have the satisfaction of influencing you. We are behind you. You must stand your ground! Is your academic reputation at stake? No. What is at stake is the great community you have built here!! What is at stake is all your loyal readers who have grown to love your writings and the forum you give them. I think it's worse for you to quit. If you want to take responsibility, I would say embolden yourself and post even more on xanga! You shouldn't allow one person to smite your freedom and your outlet.
So if there are fifty people in class and one person is goofing off, would you cancel class? Not everyone in xanga is here to learn the same thing, just as there are people that are in class that don't really give a crap about your class. As disappoint as that may be, would you stop the whole world for the sake of that one person? I hope not. We still have much to learn from you and it'd be a shame (to say the least) to see it all end because of one pointless blip.
I hope this works for you. You have a lot of people who seem to really enjoy your writing and of course there are many who just love to give their opinions.
You are one more teacher here that I found and enjoy reading, but I can tell that you are going to do what you want to do without the influence of others, which I think is a good thing.

maybe the person who posted it was another professor who was jealous because you had so many good comments. and anyway if the school is going to blame you then i cant imagine what they will do to the other professors.
but at any rate, although i enjoy reading your xanga, i think you should quit... i think it takes up too much time in your life. maybe it will be a good time to start doing your research or something. maybe you can go work out again. and you shouldnt feel pressured to keep writing because these teenie-bobbers are whining about you leaving. thats just selfish of them. maybe they should try reading a book. or they can read your research after you get it published.
basically do what makes you happy. but i personally think you should get off of xanga. its just like any other addiction. you should quit. its just too bad that this was the incentive.
Actually I haven't studied Japanese, though I want to. I was going to freshman year, but I was told to take Spanish (hehe, long story there
). Anyway, I figure that at some point down the road I'm going to study Japanese, such an interesting langugage. That and it can't hurt since I'm studying engineering!
